This historic district has a quirky local flavor and lots of fun restaurants. This area contains Loyola and Tulane universities and Riverbend, as well as Magazine Street, Oak Street and Audubon Park and Zoo. You'll find great shops, restaurants, bars and theaters in the city's Central Business District, just across Canal Street from the French Quarter. The Garden District is filled with grand historic mansions, lovely gardens and parks and neighborhood eateries. It is, without a doubt, one of the most charming neighborhoods in the world. The world-famous French Quarter or Vieux Carré dates back to 1718.
